An under 1000 square foot home that can entertain 20 easily
The 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, under 1000 square foot, post world war 2 home is ubiquitous in our market. Filled with cramped kitchens and dining rooms with footprints smaller than most modern dining room tables. But maybe for a house of this size we don’t need a dining room table, or a dining room. Or the walls around it?
Well that’s what we did here, turning three rooms of this small home into one, and making a cooking and entertaining space that can throw the grandest of parties with out breaking a sweat.

an almost tiny home that isn’t so tiny
A house that became a hair salon that wanted to be a home again.
890 square foot, a 7’ ceiling and an almost non-existent kitchen, one bedroom, one bath. That description can make this space sound incredibly tiny.; and it was. That’s why we vaulted the ceiling, re-designed the kitchen, and painted everything a bright, light, color.
Custom wood countertops throughout, new floors, new everything, except the tub. Because it was green, and who get’s rid of a green tub?

A Good Deck Makes A House.
However, like everything that comes with a home, they require good design and maintenance. For this vacation home owner they had the bad fortune of inheriting a bad design that left their deck horribly vulnerable to water damage. After 20 years the elements had won, and a complete rebuild was required. Woelkstermann performed the re-design, permitting, demolition and rebuild. We even designed a more modern railing system that updated the home's exterior.
